The construction of the plant started in 1950 in accordance with resolution of USSR Council of Ministers. First product – wires with copper cores in plastic insulation - was released in 1955. Since that time millions of kilometers of cable and conducting products have been produced by the plant. In 1992 the company was reorganized into open joint-stock company “Zavod “Saranskkabel”.
Beginning from February, 1982 and up to the present moment the head of the enterprise is Boksimer Evir Avramovich, general director, Doctor of electrical engineering, Peter the Great prize winner.
The main production facilities are situated in Saransk. They include 2 production buildings with total area – 34000m 2. The territory of the plant is 40 hectares. More than 2000 people work today in 4 main and 5 auxiliary workshops as well as in departments and services of the plant.
It is a wide range of products that always distinguishes “Saranskkabel” from other plants.
The plant manufactures more than 13000 types of cable and conducting products for wide application. “Saranskkabel” specializes on the production of insulated wires and cables including high-voltage power cables with paper insulation at 1, 6, 10 kV voltages, low-voltage power cables with plastic insulation at 0,66, 1kV voltages, telephone stationary, city telephone, signal and interlock, vessel cables, control and pilot, radiofrequency cables and also electric wires and cords.
Cable produced in Mordovia is used practically all over Russia and CIS. It is used in various fields of industry: power engineering, metallurgy, chemistry, communication, railway transport, coal, oil and gas production, building, ITs.
Quality assurance system on the basis of international standard ISO 9001-2000, “KEMA” certificate (Netherlands) and National Standard GOST (Russia) introduced in the plant are a reliable admittance to Russian and international cable markets.
Mutual cooperation has always been a firm basis for relations with business companions for Saransk cable makers. Stable relations have been established with such companies as: Kalininskaya Atomic Power Plant (APP), Bureiskaya APP, Russian Railroads, Moscow and St. Petersburg Metro, Ministry of Defense, Russian Energosystems and others. The production of Saransk cable makers is known not only in Russia. It won recognition in more than 11 countries of CIS and also in neighboring foreign countries.
The plant has been reconstructed several times. JSC “Saranskkabel” today is highly technologically equipped enterprise. Production lines are automated and computerized. Old equipment is being kept in good condition. New production lines installed in the plant allowed starting production of modern cable and conducting products.
In 1998 JSC “Saranskkabel” started production of fundamentally new type of product – fiber optic cables. In 2000 on the basis of JSC “Saranskkabel” daughter plant “Saranskkabel-Optika” Ltd. was founded. Today Saransk cable makers take the 4 th place among 12 Russian optic cable manufacturers by production volume.
“Nextrom” (Finland-Switzerland) automatic line commissioned in 1999 allowed producing cables with hydrophobic filling with cross section up to 600 pairs. It not only improved quality characteristics but also increased working efficiency and production volume.
In July 1999 first kilometers of computer cable of 5 th category (LAN-cable) were produced on “Caballe” stranding machine ( Spain). “Saranskkabel” turned out to be among the first cable plants which started production of new for the Russian market production – cables for digital data transmission systems. Today the segment of such cables among the cables being produced in Russia is more than 40%.
In July 2003 new extrusion and stranding lines by “Rosendahl” ( Austria) and “Proton” ( England) were commissioned in the plant. It allowed starting production of self-carrying insulated wires ( ÑÈÏ ) and power cables at 1kV voltage with cross-linked PE insulation. A line for production of self-carrying insulated wires ( ÑÈÏ ) and power cables at 10-35kV voltages with cross-linked PE insulation was installed in specially constructed production building. Serial output of new products will start in 2005.
Along the development of new tendencies the plant preserves leading positions in the production of traditional cables. JSC “Saranskkabel” occupies 1 st position in the market of signal an interlock system cables – 46% of market volume is produced here.

Contest “Best domestic product” (Moscow) - Power cables with vulcanized PE compound insulation at 1kV voltage type ÏâÁÂíã and signal and interlock system cable with PE insulation in aluminium sheath type ÑÁÏÀØï are awarded 1 place and gold medal.
2001
Program “100 best products of Russia” – symmetrical cable for digital data transmission systems type ÊÑÑÏÂ is ranked among 100 best Russian products and awarded a diploma.

“Trade house Saranskkabel” Ltd. – realization of cable and conducting products and materials’ processing.
Closed company “Zvetlit” - new production facility for aluminium rod and aluminium alloy manufacture.
During the last 5 years modern means of control, automation and computerization of production processes have been implemented in the production.
In Republic of Mordovia as well as in cable industry JSC “Saranskkabel” is known as a stable company. According to the business results of 2004 the plant ranks the 1 st by growth of production volume among industrial companies of Saransk and the 2 nd among industrial companies of Republic of Mordovia.
The activity of the company meets all established ecological standards. The plant achieved the reputation of one of the cleanest enterprises of the city and industry.
In 1975 the plant was named “The Company of high corporate culture”. Today the Management focuses on strong social policy, responsibility, civilized cooperation in the field of social and labor relations. JSC “Saranskkabel” differs advantageously from other companies of Republic of Mordovia by high level of mechanization and automation, corporate culture and social warranties for workers. The priority line of this policy is everyday concern for workers. The Management aims to organize attractive working and life conditions for its workers. Own system of standards has been worked out and is now in action in the plant, it also covers system of social servicing. On the territory of the plant a chapel in honor of Saint Sergii Radonezhskii is built. JSC “Saranskkabel” is one of not many companies in Republic of Mordovia which participates in mortgage building of apartment houses for young perspective workers and specialists of the plant.
Leading positions in production and realization of individual types of products are the evidence of high technical and economical potential of the plant, capable management, efficient and well organized work. The awards approve it:
1994 – International prizes: “For the best trade name”, “For commercial prestige” ( Madrid, Spain). Being awarded these prizes JSC “Saranskkabel” became a full member of European “Club of Business Leaders”.
1995 - JSC “Saranskkabel” joins leading companies “Leaders of Russian economy”.
1998 – The plant is awarded an international prize “Earthmaker” ( Malta) for successful development in dynamically changing conditions of transitional economy.
For a significant contribution to industrial development JSC “Saranskkabel” is awarded a diploma “Leader of industry -2002”.
2003 – The plant is awarded a prize and diploma “Grand Prix Effi”
2004 - JSC “Saranskkabel” is awarded “Grand Prix-2004” – a highest prize of International Association ADM Business Consulting.
A program of strategic development till 2010 is now being implemented in JSC “Saranskkabel”.
It is not an easy task to penetrate the market in a present-day situation. But Saransk cable-makers created their own formula of success: Improve quality, raise labor productivity and reduce expenses due to discipline and responsibility of personnel. It is difficult but necessary, because the chief objective of Saransk cable makers is to go forward to new age – new technologies! |
