Technical and economical recommendations about use of power cables with silane cross-linked polyethylene insulation at 1 kV voltage with number of cores 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5, cross section: from 1,5 to 240 mm2 types ÏâÂà , ÀÏâÂà , ÏâçÁáØï , ÀÏâçÁáØï , ÏâÁáØâ , ÀÏâÁáØâ
The cables are designed for power transmission and distribution in stationary equipment at nominal alternating voltage 1 kV and frequency 50 Hz. The cables meet the requirements of national standard GOST 16442-80.
The cables are designed for cabling in ground, trenches excluding heaving subsiding grounds and for single lines cabling in cable installations. The cable can be laid in ground, trenches independently of ground corrosive degree and subsoil waters.
The cables have the following structure: Core - copper or aluminium single or stranded wire, sector or round. Core insulation - silane cross-linked polyethylene. Insulated cores of multicore cables have distinctive colors. Belt insulation upon cores - PETP film tape or polypropylene tape. Hermetic filling of phase-to-phase clearing for cable types ÏâçÁáØâ , ÀÏâçÁáØâ - non-vulcanized rubber compound or thermoelectrolayer. Protective cover-for cables types ÏâÁáØâ, ÀÏâÁáØâ - armor from two steel tapes. Sheath - PVC plasticate.
Advantages of silane-cross-linked PE insulation compared to impregnated paper insulation
- use of smaller core cross-section compared to paper insulated cables;
- higher stability to damages;
- high flow capacity;
- use of silane-cross-linked PE allows to increase permissible wire heating temperature in normal conditions up to 90°C instead of 70°C, in overload conditions 130°C instead of 75°C;
- stability to short circuit current 250°C instead of 200°C;
- silane technology “Dry silane” provides more flexible and economic cross-linking process;
- higher thermal resistivity current at short circuit 250°C instead of 160°C;
- smaller expenses for cable lines reconstruction and maintenance;
- easy maintenance in case of mechanical damages;
- simplification of connecting sleeves and sealing-offs installation in field conditions;
- possibility of cabling in areas with large height drop;
- low dielectric losses (coefficient of dielectric losses 0,001 instead of 0,008);
- low permissible temperature during cabling without preheating ( -20°C instead of 0°C);
- long cable service life - 30 years;
- smaller weight diameter and bending radius, which simplifies cabling of complex routes;
- low dehumidification;
- high stability to chemical influence and cracking more ecological installation and operation (absence of lead, oil, bitumen).

produced by JSC “Saranskkabel” Plant:
- “Rosendahl” (Austria) high-speed extrusion line allows to improve insulation quality and provides high technical characteristics;
- distinctive core insulation coloring in the shape of longitudinal stripe facilitates operation during installation;
- core stranding is done on modern, high performance machine “Drum Twister” (England) provides observance of technical stranding parameters;
- set of measuring and control equipment allows to get accurate geometrical and electrical parameters of insulated conducting cores;
- take-up device of “Rosendahl” high-speed extrusion line provides good core grooming on take-up drum;
- production cost-price is considerably reduced due to the use of domestically produced materials;
- you can use cores with smaller cross section compared to the analogous cables with impregnated paper insulation or armoured power cables. Thus, purchasing a cable with silane cross-linked PE insulation you gain in price from 15 to 20%.
